African Fashion and Arts Movement Artist of the Year

Sadé Awele received the Artist of the Year Award from the African Fashion and Arts Movement (AFAM) in 2021, following the release of her debut EP 'Time Love Journey'. The award recognizes her outstanding contributions to African arts and culture in Canada.

The African Fashion and Arts Movement celebrates artists who authentically represent African culture while pushing creative boundaries. Sadé's music, which blends traditional West African melodies with contemporary soul and R&B, exemplifies this mission.

'Time Love Journey' marked Sadé's official introduction to the music world, featuring songs that explore themes of love, identity, and the immigrant experience. The EP showcased her powerful vocals and established her as a fresh voice in the Afrosoul genre.

Receiving this award early in her career affirmed Sadé's artistic direction and encouraged her to continue creating music that honors her Nigerian roots while embracing her Canadian identity.
